Preventative Dentistry

Our primary goal at Howth Road Dental is to ensure that you have good oral hygiene and overall dental health. During a routine examination by our dentists, we check to make sure you do not have any issues such as cavities or gum disease, in addition to a routine mouth cancer screening. Most people who visit the dentist either come when they are in pain or when they are looking for a cosmetic treatment, but without a basic standard of oral health it is not always possible to provide the service that the patient requests. We advise regular checkups and ongoing oral health maintenance to prevent the development of serious dental problems.

Once a examination is carried out, we provide each patient with a treatment plan showing our recommended course of action, along with the full costings of treatment involved. We believe in straightforward and gentle dentistry and aftercare, which is one of the cornerstones of our practice

We recommend that if possible you regularly attend the Dental Hygienist, as they are experts at cleaning teeth and preventing gum disease. At your appointment your Hygienist will scale (remove) the plaque that has built up on your teeth, and demonstrate effective brushing and flossing techniques to ensure your teeth are properly maintained outside of dentist visits. Our goal is to ensure you do not suffer with bad breath (halitosis) or gum disease which are easily avoidable through a proper oral care routine.
