Dental Fillings

In the past, silver amalgams were extensively used to restore decayed teeth. Unfortunately, amalgam just does not match the natural colour of your teeth, and most people today want natural looking teeth without fillings that show when they laugh or smile. The beauty of white fillings is that your cavities can be repaired and your teeth will still look completely natural.

For patients with existing metal fillings, replacement is an excellent option and will enhance your confidence to smile.

Type of Fillings

Amalgam (Silver)
This the traditional material that is used for fillings and is silver in colour, it is still considered the industry standard in terms of the durability of material, price for the patient and ease of use to work with for the dentist.

Composite
A composite filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture used to restore decayed teeth. Composites are generally used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth.

Ceramic
Ceramic fillings are a relatively recent development in terms of aesthetic teeth restoration and offer a number of advantages over traditional metal fillings. The main benefits of ceramic fillings being tooth coloured appearance, long lasting and more of your existing tooth structure usually remains in place.
